Delhi folks are in for a treat… Starting today, The Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has organized a three day Rajesh Khanna retrospective at the Siri Fort auditorium that will conclude on 20th August evening.
Hailed as the first super star of the Indian cinema, Rajesh Khanna will always be remembered as the star who reigned at the box office in his prime and who made dying on screen an art by itself. After all, none who has seen the film ‘Anand’ can forget the dying scene of superstar Rajesh Khanna… “Babumoshai…”
The retrospective will kick off this afternoon with ‘Aap Ki Kasam’ that will be graced by the late superstar’s wife Dimple Kapadia.
The event spread over the three days will altogether showcase 10 of the best works of the superstar that includes some of his little known films like ‘Aakhri Khat’, ‘Avishkaar’ and ‘Ittefaq’. Other hits in the list include – ‘Kati Patang’, ‘Aradhana’, ‘Amar Prem’ ‘Bawarchi’, ‘Safar’ and ‘Anand’.
Day 2 and 3 will also witness a panel discussion on the superstar’s films in the evenings. The discussions will be moderated by noted critic Jerry Pinto and will include Ashim Samanta, son of producer/director Shakti Samanta (the man who directed some of the superstar’s huge hits), writer Suresh Kohli, columnist K. Bikram Singh, Sunit Tandon, film critic Ganesh Ananthraman and Sharad Dutt.
The entry is open to all on a first come first served basis. Don’t forget to set a date with the late superstar’s films over the next three days.
